Unlike the popular and populated island of Oahu, Big Island offers snorkeling in a quieter sort of way that allows you to explore the natural wonders of Hawaii with more peace and tranquility. Off the coast of Big Island, you will find all kinds of beautiful and exotic tropical fish and coral that are easy to see with just your snorkeling mask and fins.

Snorkeling on Big Island is usually done in one of two places: a remote beach or off the Kona Coast. Remote beaches, unlike the more visited ones, provide a natural environment that has remained virtually untouched by humankind.  Here is where you will catch an abundance of fish and plants in true Hawaii style. The Kona Coast offers a highly unique underwater ecosystem that is marked by the deep drop of the ocean floor. Before that deep drop, all kinds of fish and plants can be found such as raccoon butterfly fish, moray eels and sea turtles.
