 Most travelers come to Kauai to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourism on the bigger islands.  If experiencing Hawaiian culture at its most untainted is what you’re after, then set sail on the Deluxe Niihau Island Tour for a glimpse of Hawaii the way it used to be.

The smallest inhabited island in the Hawaiian chain, Niihau lies just 17.5 miles southwest of Kauai, across the Kaluakahi Channel.  Most commonly known as the “forbidden” island, Niihau has also been called the Forgotten Island or the Mystery Island because it is generally closed to visitors and omitted from tourist maps.  With limited running water and electricity, a rural farming lifestyle and an emphasis on preserving the Hawaiian language and traditions (school is taught in Hawaiian through eighth grade), the roughly two hundred and fifty residents of Niihau represent Hawaii the way it used to be.

We’ll set sail from Port Allen in Ele’ele on one of our luxury catamarans.  We’ll take our time getting to the island, stopping on the way to enjoy the splendor of the Na Pali coast and the stunning array of marine life it has to offer.  You’ll enjoy a light continental breakfast and deli buffet and still have plenty of time to snorkel or dive among the turtles and tropical beauties found in the clear waters between Kauai and Niihau.  Once we reach the forbidden island, you’ll get a chance to witness for yourself the pristine beaches, glassy waters, tropical fish and monk seals and gorgeous shells and natural class balls that make Niihau a paradise of unadulterated beauty.
