Discover The North Shore Oahu Tour
Long ago, Capt. John Bartholomew Cromwell’s ancient ship came into view of Oahu’s North Shore. After four months at sea, the crew were eager to set foot on dry land. As the sandy, white beaches and rolling hills of the island came into view, the mariners felt a sense of tranquility and awe come over them. Their stay along North Shore was one they wouldn’t soon forget.
Today, the North Shore of Oahu retains its magnificent beauty and historical sites, but it is also a bustling community of surfers; a site for pineapple, banana, and coffee plantations; and it has starred in several big-hit films.
Get ready for an adventure! The North Shore Oahu tour includes a drive through the historic Haleiwa Town. Built by a sugar plantation tycoon in the 1900s, Haleiwa is now a friendly surfing town where charming houses and surf shops line the streets. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to watch the world’s best surfers play in the waves at famous locations such as Pipeline, Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay, which has the largest shorebreak on earth. Other stops on the tour include the Laie Point, the giant green sea turtle beach where these majestic creatures breed, and the Pali lookout, which provides a breathtaking view of Nuuanu Valley. You’ll view banana and coffee plantations and visit the plantation of Dole Pineapple Company. And you’ll be able to step foot on the Hollywood film locations for the television series Lost and the blockbuster film Jurassic Park. You’ll also get an up-close look at the quiet beach cove of Kahana Bay, where Fantasy Island was filmed. Finally, you’ll visit the tranquil and stunning Byodo-In Temple, a Buddhist temple that replicates a 900-year-old Buddhist temple in Japan. Inside the Byodo-In Temple, you’ll see the golden Lotus Buddha. At nine feet, this is the largest wooden Buddha carved in more than 900 years.
