History buffs rejoice because this tour of Oahu’s monuments and museums was designed specifically for you. This narrated tour will begin with a visit to Pearl Harbor. After viewing a 20 minute video presentation of the Japanese attack that marked the United States’ involvement in World War II, you will be shuttled by ferry boat to the USS Arizona Memorial. This floating tribute is moored in the water over the sunken vessel that serves as the final resting place for the crew of 1,177 who lost their lives during the attack on December 7, 1941. You will also see the wayside monument to fallen soldiers and the photographic timeline of Pearl Harbor during the momentous attack.

You will then have the opportunity to explore the USS Missouri. The “Mighty Mo” was part of the force that carried out bombing raids over Tokyo and provided firepower during the battles of Okinawa and Iwo Jima, but she is best known as the site where Japan signed the unconditional surrender that ended World War II.

The tour will conclude with Oahu’s new Pacific Aviation Museum where you can discover the rich history of military aviation in Hawaii. While there, visit the Hangar 37, the 42,000 square foot hangar that survived Japan’s attack. The exhibit includes an authentic Japanese Zero Fighter Plane, an actual B-52B like the one used on the Doolittle Raid, an SBD Dauntless dive bomber, a Grumman Wildcat, and the actual Stearman N25-3 in which former President Bush soloed. Guests will also have the opportunity to try their aviary battle skills in one of the museum’s six interactive flight simulators.

All tour guides are state certified in Hawaiiana (Hawaiian lore) so they can share their knowledge and insight and answer any questions you may have about Oahu’s remarkable history.
