E Noa Pearl Harbor And Honolulu City Tour
Take a trip through Hawaii’s past with this shuttle bus tour of Oahu’s historic places. The journey begins with an exploration of Pearl Harbor, the site of the Japanese bombing that took place on December 7, 1941. After a video presentation of the historic event that marked the beginning of the USA’s involvement in World War II, survey the wayside exhibits where you can compare pictures of the harbor as it was right before and after the devastation with the way it looks today, or enjoy a stroll around the lush garden grounds. You will be shuttled by ferry boat over to the USS Arizona Memorial, which serves as the final resting place for the battleship and most of its 1,177 crew members.
After Pearl Harbor, the tour will make its way around Honolulu. You will see the unique open-air architecture of the State Capitol and historic Chinatown, home to the many Chinese immigrants who served as contract laborers on Oahu’s sugar plantations. As more and more of these immigrants left the plantations to become self-employed, The twenty-five acre area of downtown Honolulu known as Chinatown became a bustling retail and cultural center.
This tour will also visit the only official state residence of royalty on U.S. soil, ‘Iolani Palace. Enjoy the beautiful grounds and architecture of the last home of the Hawaiian monarchy, which also served as the site of Queen Lili’uokalani’s imprisonment after she was overthrown in 1895. This national historic landmark has been completely restored to the grandeur of its past when it was the political and social center of the Kingdom of Hawaii.
All tour guides are state certified in Hawaiiana (Hawaiian lore), and will give insightful narration of Oahu’s historic and cultural landmarks.
