Na Pali Sea Kayak Kauai
This sea kayaking adventure is the best way to experience the Na Pali coast. Launching in the cerulean waters of Ha’ena State Park, the trip continues for 17 miles to the rocky beach at Polihale. This will be a long day of coastal paddling with intermittent stops in sea caves for rest and exploring. Kayakers will have the opportunity to see just how beautiful Kauai can be—from mountain peaks and gushing waterfalls to lush emerald valleys and jagged lava formations along the coastline. This journey will take you through some of the most remote land in the main Hawaiian Islands, like Honopu Beach with its iconic rock arch created by the constant pressure of the Pacific waters.
The sea floor is visible from inside the kayak for most of the trip, so paddlers have a great view of vibrant fish darting about below and sea turtles as they meander through the water. During the two hour stop for lunch at the beach known as Miloli’i, you may laze about with the monk seals sunning themselves, or get a massage from the cool water at Lomi Falls.
The kayaks have supportive back rests and employ a foot pedal rudder for ease of maneuverability by even the most novice paddlers, so no kayaking experience is necessary. However, this grueling adventure is not for the faint of heart. Although seasickness is the most common malady, paddlers should be in good physical condition, comfortable with the water, and up for a bit of a challenge.
