You will begin your journey early in the day or in the afternoon in order to take advantage of the perfect lighting for the canyon.  At those prime times, the sun’s angle illuminates the canyon’s rock layers and unfolds the geological history of the island of Kauai.  You will see every color of the rainbow appear on the faces of the steep cliffs, and the vivid colors will change with the angle of the sun.  There will be plenty of time to stop at ideal locations to take photos and appreciate the canyon’s incredible beauty.  Your guide will explain Waimea Canyon’s land features, as well as the history and legend surrounding the canyon and its formation.  The canyon, including the surrounding State Park, is home to several plant and bird species that you will only find on Kauai, so make sure you bring your camera along for the ride.
