Every December through April is whale-watching season on the island of Maui. It’s this time of year that the graceful and majestic humpback whales travel almost 3,500 miles from Alaska to warmer waters where they find a mate and have their young. Their journey takes them to the Hawaiian waters, right off the coast of Maui, where you’ll have the once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity to watch these exquisite creatures as they glide through the water, often breaching the ocean’s surface high into the air and then falling back into the water, causing an enormous splash! Humpback whales also slap their tales against the surface of the water and the males sing beautiful mating songs.
