Value Mid Day At 6500 Feet
You haven’t truly experienced Maui until you’ve seen the Haleakala Volcano. This ancient volcano, estimated to be more than two million years old, is translated as “house of the sun,” and it is one of the most popular attractions in East Maui, not only because of its history and unique lava formations, but also because of its massive size. The Haleakala Volcano is the largest inactive volcano in the world. On this thrilling tour, not only will you be able to see the volcano, you’ll stand on top of one of its peaks and then bicycle your way to the bottom. It is a day filled with adventure and some of Maui’s most beautiful scenery!
After a light breakfast at our office headquarters, you’ll be equipped with a bicycle helmet and windbreaker adjusted to fit you. Inside our comfortable safari van, you’ll ride to the top of Haleakala Ranch, a part of the volcano that rises more than six thousand feet into the air. Just outside of the Haleakala National Park, this spot offers an amazing view of the volcano, as well as the mountains and the Central Valley in the distance. It’s an excellent point to see Maui’s dynamic landscapes. After a short safety session from two of our trained guides, you’ll be ready to jump on your bicycle and hit the slopes. This is an extremely safe part of the tour as the grade is not steep, and there are plenty of curves to slow riders down. There are also places for you to pull over and take pictures. Your guides will be with you all along the way to answer questions and teach you about the geology of East Maui. After lunch at the Sunrise Market and Flower Farm, the bike ride continues through the upcountry town of Kula. Afterward, you’ll get back in our van as we take you through the village of Pukalani, where you’ll learn about the agricultural history of the area.
