Our expert local guides will lead you to the most intriguing sights in the area.
You’ll actually walk on top of still smoldering hardened lava. You’ll feel the subterranean heat rise from the still cooling lava. You will also have an opportunity to walk the Steam Vents Trail, where you’ll witness water vapor expelled from the ground as a result of the tremendous underground heat and pressure. Trek into a lava tube, carved out from the Earth by two thousand degree molten lava. Visit the sulfur banks, where volcanic fumes rise – this fantastic landscape will make you feel as if you have been transported to a far-off planet. You’ll be astounded by the delicate crystalline formations created by the sulfur. Afterwards, you’ll hike through the verdant surroundings of a Pacific island rainforest, populated with rare indigenous birds and plant life. The Big Island of Hawaii is home to some of the rarest birds in the world including a variety of brightly plumed honeycreepers. You’ll then visit the Kilauea Iki Crater, the crater within the larger crater. Before having lunch, visit the world renowned Jaggar Museum. Then cap off this exciting tour with a delicious meal at the Volcano House, a restaurant that allows patrons to dine with the amazing vista of the volcano as a backdrop.
